This is a separate, dedicated policy about the pregnancy and labor data Get Ready handles — required, on top of our regular Privacy Policy, by Washington State's My Health My Data Act and similar consumer-health-data laws in other states. It stands on its own: if anything here and in the Privacy Policy seem to point in different directions, this page controls for the specific data it covers. Get Ready ("the app") is made by Huhu Inc. ("Huhu", "we", "us"), based in California, USA.
Washington's My Health My Data Act (RCW 19.373) requires companies that handle "consumer health data" to publish a policy like this one, separate from a general privacy policy, describing exactly what health data we collect, why, where it comes from, who we share it with, and how you control it. Nevada (SB 370) and Connecticut's data-privacy amendments define "consumer health data" and require substantially the same disclosures. Rather than publish three near-identical documents, this one page gives everyone — regardless of which state you're in — the same plain answers to the same questions. Where a specific right below is only guaranteed by one of these laws, we say so; otherwise we give the same controls to everyone.
These laws define consumer health data broadly: personal information that identifies your physical or mental health status, including reproductive or pregnancy health information. In Get Ready, that's:
Two more things you store in the app are pregnancy-adjacent but not health status data in themselves — your who-to-call contacts (names/numbers for your OB, midwife, hospital, doula, partner) and your hospital-bag checklist. We include them in this policy anyway, out of caution, since they're entered for the same labor-preparation purpose. Your account email, display name, and authentication identifier (from Sign in with Apple or Google) are ordinary account information, not health data, and are covered by our general Privacy Policy.
We do not use your health data for advertising, to train third-party models, or for any purpose beyond running the specific feature that collected it.
Every piece of consumer health data listed above comes directly from you — typed into the timer, tapped on the kick counter, or entered in Settings. We do not buy, license, or receive it from data brokers, health-record integrations, wearables, or any other third-party source. The app does not use your location, camera, or microphone to collect health data, and it has no sensors of its own.
By default, none of it leaves your phone. Your due date, contraction history, labor-alert threshold, kick counts, who-to-call contacts, and hospital-bag list are stored only in your phone's local storage. The one exception is the optional "Share live with your partner" toggle in Settings, off by default.
When you turn that toggle on, the app sends a derived summary of your current contraction status — session start time, contraction count, how far apart and how long your last contraction was, your intensity setting, your progress toward your chosen alert threshold, a short strip of recent timing samples used to draw the trend line, and your account display name — to one shared record for your family. It does not include your kick-counter data, your who-to-call contacts, your hospital-bag list, or your due date. That shared record is:
The infrastructure that stores and moves this data is:
Beyond that: we do not sell your consumer health data, ever, to anyone. We do not share it with data brokers, advertisers, or analytics resellers, and we have no mechanism to do so — there's no "sale" or "share" flow in this app to opt out of, because it doesn't exist. We do not use geofencing around health care facilities for any purpose (we don't use geofencing at all — the app doesn't collect your location). We may disclose data if the law genuinely requires it (a valid legal demand) or to protect someone's safety, and we'll tell you unless the law forbids it.
Your due date, contraction/kick history, labor-alert threshold, who-to-call contacts, and hospital-bag list live on your phone for as long as the app is installed, or until you delete them — we don't hold a separate copy to retain or expire.
For the shared "partner live-sharing" record: the moment you turn "Share live with your partner" off, the record is deleted immediately — nothing is left in the cloud for your family to see. If you leave sharing on after your session ends, the completed session's full detail is designed to stay visible to your family for 12 hours, then reduce down to a bare status flag (no contraction timing, intensity, or timing samples) — so a partner isn't left staring at a card that goes blank the instant labor ends, but the detailed data doesn't sit around indefinitely either. Being straightforward about how that's enforced today: the 12-hour reduction is enforced two ways: your own phone applies it the next time you open Get Ready after the window has passed, and a scheduled job on our servers applies it regardless — so the reduction happens even if you never open the app again.
Beyond the in-app controls, Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut give you the right to confirm whether we process your consumer health data (answered in full above), to have us correct it, and to withdraw consent or request deletion in ways the app doesn't already self-serve. For any of that — or to use an authorized agent — email us: app_support@meethuhu.com. We'll respond without unreasonable delay and, in any case, within the timeline the law sets (Washington's My Health My Data Act allows up to 45 days, with one 45-day extension for complex requests; Nevada and Connecticut set similar windows). We will never discriminate or retaliate against you for exercising any of these rights — there's nothing to discriminate with; the app is free and the same for everyone either way.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to the one piece of consumer health data that reaches our servers — the shared partner live-sharing record — is restricted server-side to your own family, and only the family member currently sharing may write or delete that record (not just any family member). No system is perfect: if we learn of a breach affecting your consumer health data, we will notify you without unreasonable delay, as required by applicable law.
If we change this policy we'll update the effective date above and, for meaningful changes to what we collect, share, or how long we keep it, tell you in the app before they take effect.
