Get Ready ("the app") is made by Huhu Inc. ("Huhu", "we", "us"), based in California, USA. This policy explains what we collect, why, and what control you have. The short version: your contraction timing, kick counts, due date, and who-to-call list are stored on your own phone by default; almost nothing about your labor leaves your device unless you turn on "Share live with your partner"; we use what we store only to run the app for your family, we never sell it, and there are no ads.
Get Ready is for pregnant people and their partners preparing for labor. You must be an adult to create an account. The app has no guest mode — everyone who uses it signs in.
Account information. When you sign in with Apple or Google we receive your email address, display name, and an authentication identifier. We use these to create your account and let your family members recognize you. (If you use Apple's "Hide My Email", we receive the relay address Apple gives us — that works fine.) Get Ready shares its account and family model with Early Days by Huhu, a separate Huhu app for tracking a baby's feeding, sleep, and care — if you and a partner are already linked in Early Days, you're automatically linked in Get Ready too. Get Ready has no invite flow of its own.
Your due date. What you enter in Settings, used to show the countdown in the app's header. Stored only on your phone.
Your contraction timer. Every time you start, adjust, or end a contraction — the start time, end time, duration, the pain-intensity level you optionally set on the slider, and the pattern this builds toward the labor-alert threshold you chose (see "Labor alert" below) — is stored only on your phone. It is not uploaded to our servers, unless you turn on "Share live with your partner" (off by default) — see "Partner live-sharing" below for exactly what that sends and to whom.
Your kick counts. Fetal-movement ("count to 10") sessions — when you tapped, how many taps, and how long it took — are stored only on your phone. Kick data is not part of partner live-sharing today; see "Partner live-sharing" below for the current scope of that feature.
Labor alert threshold. The contraction pattern (e.g. "5 minutes apart, 1 minute long, for 1 hour") you pick in Settings to trigger an in-app notice. Stored only on your phone; we don't see it, and there's no server-side alerting.
Who-to-call contacts. The names and phone numbers you save in Settings (your OB/midwife,
hospital labor & delivery, doula, partner, whoever you want one tap away) are stored on your phone
only and are not sent to our servers. Tapping a contact hands the number straight to your phone's own
dialer (a tel: link) — we never see or log the call.
Hospital-bag checklist. The packing list and what you've checked off. Stored only on your phone, seeded from a default list you can edit freely.
Partner live-sharing (only if you turn it on). Settings has a "Share live with your partner" toggle, off by default. When it's on, the app is built to mirror your current contraction pattern — start time, count, how far apart and how long your last contraction was, your intensity setting, your progress toward your chosen alert threshold, and a short strip of recent timing samples used to draw the on-screen trend — to a single shared record for your family, and to push a live update to your partner's phone (an iOS Live Activity on their Lock Screen) so they can see it without opening the app. Your display name goes with it, so your partner's phone can show whose labor it's watching. See "Partner live-sharing" below for the full detail, including a build-status note.
Push notifications. If you allow notifications, we store your device's push token (namespaced to Get Ready specifically, separate from Early Days' or any other Huhu app's token) so we can deliver the labor-alert notice and, when partner live-sharing is on, the Live Activity push to your partner's phone. Push tokens are removed when you sign out or delete your account.
Sharing your log with someone. Settings → Export lets you share a plain-text summary of your contraction sessions using your phone's own share sheet (Messages, email, whatever you pick), or copy it to your clipboard. That goes directly from your phone to wherever you send it — we never see it and never store a copy.
Usage analytics. Firebase (Google) is linked into the app and initializes on launch, which means Google's standard mobile SDK collection runs automatically — the kind of technical/usage data (app opens, crashes-adjacent diagnostics, device/OS info) Firebase Analytics collects by default on any app that links it. As of this writing, Get Ready's own code contains no explicit event-logging calls — we don't tag your taps, screens, or actions with custom analytics events the way some of our other apps do. This section will need updating if that changes.
What we do NOT collect: your location, your contacts (beyond the who-to-call numbers you type in yourself), your photo library, advertising identifiers. We have no third-party trackers or ad SDKs, and Get Ready has no in-app purchases and no crash-reporting SDK. The app does not "track" you as Apple defines it, and it does not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals because it has nothing to track and no third-party behavioral advertising in the first place.
Your due date, contraction timing, kick counts, and labor-alert threshold are pregnancy and labor health information. We treat them as sensitive. Our default design keeps this data on your phone only — it exists in the cloud at all only for the one optional feature described next, and only for as long as that feature needs it. For the full, dedicated breakdown of what counts as health data here, why we collect it, who we share it with, and how you control it — required reading under Washington's My Health My Data Act and similar laws — see our Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy.
This is the one feature that sends labor data off your device, so it deserves a full, plain explanation.
Where GDPR-style laws apply, our legal bases are: performing our agreement with you (authenticating your account and, when you turn it on, relaying your live status to your family), your consent for the optional things (partner live-sharing, which starts off; notifications; and the health-data nature of contraction/kick information specifically — entering it is your explicit consent to our processing it for the purpose you entered it); and our legitimate interest in basic product analytics and keeping the service secure. We don't do automated decision-making with legal effects, and we don't profile you for advertising.
We may disclose information if the law genuinely requires it (a valid legal demand), to protect someone's safety, or to defend our legal rights — and if that ever happens we'll tell you unless the law forbids it. If the app is ever acquired or handed to a successor, your data goes only with the same promises in this policy, and we'll notify you before anything changes.
Your data is stored with Google Firebase on Google Cloud servers in the United States, and Google processes it on our behalf under Google's data-processing terms. If you use the app from outside the US, your data comes to US servers — we want to be plain about that. Google LLC participates in the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework and its data-processing terms for Firebase include the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses for onward processing; we rely on those Google commitments rather than pretending we've signed separate transfer paperwork with each user. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest.
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, access is controlled by per-family security rules (only your family's accounts can read your family's records — see "Partner live-sharing" above for exactly who that includes), and we keep the data we hold to the minimum the features need. No system is perfect: if we learn of a breach that affects your personal data, we will notify you without unreasonable delay — in the app or by email — and as required by applicable law.
Your due date, threshold preference, who-to-call contacts, hospital-bag list, and contraction/kick history live on your phone for as long as the app is installed, or until you delete them yourself — we don't have a copy to retain. If you use partner live-sharing, the shared status record exists only while sharing is on and is deleted the moment you turn it off, or when your account/family data is deleted (see "Partner live-sharing" above). Push tokens are kept only while notifications are enabled for your device. Analytics data is retained under Firebase's standard limited retention period.
The app is directed to adults preparing for labor, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children, online or otherwise. Get Ready is not designed for or usable by children, and no child interacts with it. If we learn a child has created an account, we will delete it.
Depending on where you live, privacy laws give you rights to access, correct, export, delete, or object to processing of your data. Honestly: we're a small operation, and some of these laws (like California's CCPA) technically apply only to businesses far larger than us. We don't lean on that. We give the same controls to everyone, everywhere: the in-app delete covers access, portability, and erasure directly for anything we hold; editing in the app covers correction; and for anything else — objection, restriction, a question, or exercising a right through an authorized agent — email us and we'll handle it within the timelines the strictest applicable law would set: app_support@meethuhu.com. We will never discriminate against you for exercising a privacy right (there's nothing to discriminate with — the app is free and the same for everyone). We do not sell or share personal information as California law defines those terms, so there is nothing to opt out of. If you're in the EU/UK and we can't resolve a concern, you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
If we change this policy we'll update the date above and, for meaningful changes, tell you in the app before they take effect.
